When I made known my senatorial aspiration, most of my relatives and friends were incredulous. They all had legitimate questions. I’m happily retired, enjoying the fruits of my once very active career and indulging in newly discovered hobbies. They wondered what could possibly have motivated me to plunge into this seemingly hopeless enterprise, given the sorry state of politics in the Philippines. But there is such a thing as love of country. For so long, we Filipinos have engaged in the art of argumentation and debate on what's wrong with our country, why we can't seem to pull ourselves out of a third world status when Filipinos who are spread out all over the world are admired for their professional excellence and hard work. I believe the Filipinos know exactly the ills of their country. To continue to analyze and dissect those ills is like formulating a menu for an emaciated person who hasn’t eaten for weeks.

Noynoy showing his true color
|
October 22, 2009
I am dismayed over some articles in The Manila Times and other papers stating that Noynoy is endorsing HB 5043 (Reproductive Health and Population Development Act). Noynoy may not have taken the time to read the full text of that bill and to analyze the full impact of the proposed bill beyond the sugarcoated provisions that attempt to make it look like it’s the right thing to do.

PRAYER FOR GOOD LEADERS |
October 22, 2009
Let us pray for our nation. Let us ask our Powerful and Almighty God to bless our country with honest, competent, and courageous leaders at all levels of our government.
We pray for a new government for the common good, not self-interest. We pray for more good men and women to volunteer for true government service (not self-service) ; for these good men and women to offer their talent and service for the common good as Councilors, Mayors, Congressmen, and Senators.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY, IN JESUS' MIGHTY NAME. AMEN.

Contribute!
We believe that our candidates should not be saddled with the burden of having to raise their own campaign funds, so as to prevent them from being beholden to anyone and to empower them to always act independently for the best interest of the common good. For this reason, Ang Kapatiran has established the Pondo contra sa Trapo (Fund against Traditional Politicians).

Statement of Ang Kapatiran Party on news items about its
withdrawal from the Presidential Race in favor of Senator Aquino
|
September 22,, 2009
In the coming 2010 elections, it is of utmost urgency for all to contribute in discerning for ‘principled partisan politics.’ We owe this to the Filipino as this is the only way we could even begin the process of genuine change. Reform and transform politics by advancing the common good is the central theme of Ang Kapatiran Party’s platform of government enumerated in the Passport to a New Philippines. AKP is determined to campaign for its candidates so as to institute these principles and platform with clear and specific objectives.

Political name-game is not the Ang Kapatiran way
|
April 13, 2009
By Norman V. Cabrera
Promoting the “who” rather than the “what” mentality, distracts our country’s transformation from traditional to new political thinking.
If we are to change the way we do politics, the process must be reversed—to engaging the “what” before the “who,” to listing down “what” people aspire for before searching “who” can do the job for the people.

March 5, 2009
By Archbishop Angel N. Lagdameo
IN two of our Statements last year, we called for and encouraged the formation of “circles of discernment” to help us address our nation’s concerns. We said in our Statement “Reform Yourselves and Believe in the Gospel” (Jan. 27, 2008): “We have to form ourselves into real communities of faith-discernment and action. We ask this of explicit Church groups. But we will ask it too of all citizens who have concern for the nation’s good, especially those who hold the reins of power, from Malacañang on to Congress, provincial and municipal governments, all the way down to barangay councils. …This must sound like a preposterous request, but we make it anyway for we believe that what it seeks is the critical need of the moment. Already it is being responded to here and there by various concerned groups such as those that have been organized and trained to fight corruption.”

by Councilor JC de los Reyes, Olongapo City
Good morning. Allow me to greet all those who work in the vineyard of the Lord. The pro-life / pro-choice controversy is jam-packed with issues but since I was tasked to speak on the issues confronting the pro-life movement I will begin with a background and history of the Philippine Population issue vis-à-vis my own experience which are drawn from these perspectives;

JC Delos Reyes' Points on the Subic Environmental Protection
Tour
|
January 15, 2009
As Councilor of Olongapo City and member of Ang Kapatiran Party I would like to point out the following:
1. While the massacre of trees and corruption charges are serious issues that warrant public attention these remain allegations which are yet to be proven. A more imperative concern is the already approved grandiose Korean Ocean 9 Casino which will be the 4th casino operator in the area, the 5th in the offing - the Trump-Korean consortium estimated at one billion dollar casino to be built at Cawag, Subic , Zambales.
